Gabicce Mare

San Leo

High up on a huge rock in the Marecchia Valley, about 30 km from Rimini, there is San Leo. You'll reach it climbing up the mountains on a unique road, high up on a huge rock. On the top lies the Fortress. This military sentinel has been enlarged around the 1600th c. and converted into a prison for famous prisoners like the illustrious Count of Cagliostro and Felice Orsini. The panorama from St. Leo is simply breathtaking.
